On Sunday 16th October we took part in one of the regular Open Days at Digging In, Pollok Park, Glasgow. This time the topic was medical care for the troops and this was the ideal opportunity to show off the new Regimental Aid Post which was built over the summer.
Manning the RAP, our very own Drew Crichton of the RAMC and Ailsa Clarke from the Scottish Women's Hospital. Both did a sterling job welcoming and informing the many visitors who attended, despite the very indifferent weather. Whilst Dave Clarke was his normal enthusiastic and entertaining self explaining the dark art of Triage.
Dr Beverly Bergman, Honorary Senior Research Fellow of Glasgow University gave a very interesting talk on the various aspects of hygiene and health in and out of the trenches, a logistical nightmare at times but a challenge that was met by the British Army.
