Pat was from Pathhead and my mum's cousin. Aged 19 he joined the RAAF and was part of the crew of Lancaster bomber L-Lizbeth. On this day in 1943 she was struck by flak over Turin, but made it back over England. On her final approach the tail fell off and she crashed killing all on board.
